The Casay Seaside Multi-purpose Cooperative celebrated its 25th General Assembly held on March 15, 2015 at the Pavilion of Dalaguete Beach Park, Dakung Balas, Casay, Dalaguete, Cebu with the theme: “Edukasyon, Kakugi ug Kamatinud-anon Pundasyon sa Coop nga Malamboon”.
The cooperative on its silver anniversary was attended by 91 regular members out of 132, with 10 proxies and one (1) associate member from Dakung Balas Main Consumer Store; and 59 regular members out of 113, with seven (7) proxies from Angas Satellite store.
The general assembly was properly started at 9:00 o’clock in the morning through an invocation recited and headed by Mrs. Generosa Bejagan, the chairperson on Conciliation-Mediation Committee. And Mr. Arsulin Bejagan, the chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) who did welcome guests, members and proxies attended the activity.
This big event of CSMPC was attended by the Barangay Captain, Honorable Joseph Belamia who had shared his inspirational message to members and proxies of the cooperative.
The secretary, Mrs. Irene Alburo did read the Minutes of the previous General Assembly and it was approved by mass and recorded for legal documentation of the cooperative.
As usual, election of officers was conducted and the two (2) BOD’s were re-elected namely: Director Yolanda Belamia and Director Robert Abrantes, while Director Whelma Rosales was the newly elected Board. 2014 AICom members were all re-elected, namely: Mrs. Sesenia E. Cadile, Mrs. Mildred C. Ratunil, and Mrs. Jennie M. Balmori, likewise, for 2014 CreCom members were re-elected in the persons of Mrs. Elsa A. Cari-cari, Mrs. Herminigilda M. Pobadora, and Miss Cecile A. Rosales. And Mrs. Elsie B. Cartuciano, Mrs. Josephine A. Camingao, both staff were re-elected however Miss Charmaine Paz, the newly elected EleCom served and complied their duties and responsibilities for the 2015 CSMPC Election of Officers. Then, Mrs. Generosa Bejagan, Mrs. Carmen Lenares and Lourdes Glabog were being re-appointed by the BOD and approved by the General Assembly as Conciliation and Mediation Committee members for Fiscal Year 2015 , likewise, Mrs. Myrlinda Ogang, Miss Esmeralda Lumayag and Mrs. Eleuteria Manal were re-appointed to serve as Ethics Committee 2015 officers.
The Board of Directors, headed by Director Bejagan administered the selection and appointment of the operational staff of the cooperative for which decision was provided in the By-Laws and such selection and appointment of positions for Conciliation/Mediation and Ethics committees were approved by the majority of the registered members.
The Region VII, Cooperative Development Authority, CDA Specialist, Honorable Myrna Dellosa shared her inspirational message not only to the elected, re-elected, and appointed officers of CSMPC but to all regular members who have invested their money and who have fully patronized consumer goods and subsequently she had emphasized her encouraging words to all of them for the development and financial sustainability and progress of CSMPC.
She also administered the conduct of the Oath Taking of elected and appointed officers and helped distribute the certificates of top 15 Patronizers and Top 10 Investors of both stores of the cooperative.

Different reports were presented before the registered members by the officers. Mrs. Myrlinda Pagula made a report about Bookkeeping; Mrs. Sesenia Cadile reported the data about audit and inventory in both stores; Mrs. Lucia Balazo made a report about the loan status of the Lending division; Director Ricardo Belamia reported on the Vice Chairman’s Reports especially to the Pre-membership Education Seminar (PMES) and in the trainings and seminars attended by the officers; and chairman Arsulin Bejagan discussed about the duties and responsibilities of members in the cooperative, as well as the duties and functions of elected and appointed officers. He discussed further the Vision, Mission, and Goals of the cooperative and emphasized clearly its theme: “Edukasyon, Kakugi ug Kamatinud-anon Pundasyon sa Coop nga Malamboon”.
At the ending portion of the chairman’s talk, he acknowledged guests and representatives from different civic groups and did thank Ms. Lorna C. Gamboa from Dalaguete Women Federation, Dalaguete, Cebu and Ms. Lilibeth Rivera from Women Association, Malones, Dalaguete, Cebu for their wilful coming in the CSMPC 25th General Assembly.
Director Bejagan further acknowledged Hon. Ronald Allan G. Cesante, Municipal Mayor of Dalaguete for authorizing the cooperative be a recipient of the Livelihood Financial Grant from DOLE; to Dr. Carlo B. Bejarasco, Education Consultant of the Dalaguete Municipal Community Development Council for helping CSMPC to avail the financial grant; to Casay Barangay Council for supporting and letting the coop to use their plastic chairs; to Ms. Ma. Gina I. Martinez, Tourism Coordinator of TIEZA Cebu for offering the coop a discount package for the venue; to the Department of Labor and Employment; to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR); to Mr. Elton T. Bermiso, CSMPC external auditor; to Fr. Zachy Honorio B. Zacarias, Parish Priest of Cawayan Parish Center; to Angas Casay Dakung Balas (ACADAB) Chapel Organization for providing the coop with additional plastic chairs; to Mr. George Lumayag, CSMPC BOD member and at the same time eClassroom In-charge of DepEd Dalaguete National High School; to Director Robert C. Abrantes, CSMPC BOD member for using his vehicle for the usual transport of borrowed chairs, sound system, drinks and food; and to all officers, staff and members who contributed their talents and skills to make the CSMPC more sustainable and successful. And to God for His continuous blessings to every God’s believer.
An open forum was deliberately shared between members who asked questions, and the officers tried their best in answering such questions raised. Questions were answered by the chairman and he politely discussed such problems based from the existing policies and other provisions in the By-Laws of CSMPC. Members were being instructed that if they might have some concerns pertaining to the business operational procedures and person’s unethical behaviours, they should write a letter to be addressed to the BOD to be personally delivered or they might drop it to the Suggestion Boxes installed in the consumer stores.
More give-aways were distributed to officers and members who had attended the General Assembly and they were very thankful that the activity was very much successful. (GPL)
